Dr. Burnett graduated from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. He worked with a mixed-animal practice for many years before focusing strictly on small animal veterinary medicine. His interests include internal medicine and preventive care, ultrasound, and business management. He is also certified for the treatment of felines with hyperthyroidism.
Dr. Burnett always had pets growing up and they showed him the kindness and patience that he needed to care for them. This triggered his interest in veterinary medicine. He has one dog named Molly, and three cats named Limpy Lou, Maggie, and Moo Cow. All of his cats are three-legged and run around the clinic freely.
Dr. Chandler Bruening is a Veterinarian and the Associate Medical Director at Palmetto Animal Hospital. Dr. Bruening graduated with her B.S. in Animal and Veterinary Sciences from Clemson University and went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. Her areas of professional interest include working in exotic animal medicine and surgical care.
Originally born in El Paso, Texas, she currently calls Sumter, South Carolina home. She enjoys spending time with her two lop rabbits Dabo and Watson, cat, Wobbie, chocolate Lab, Kona, and shelter mutt, Chipper. When she's not spending time with animals, she loves horror movies, reading, and hanging out with her friends and family. A fun fact about Dr. Bruening is that she lived in Germany for four years and can speak limited German!
Ashley Oria is Palmetto Animal Hospital's dedicated Practice Manager. Ashley also serves as a licensed and certified veterinary technician, and her professional interests include emergency medicine, critical care, and client education. She attended St. Petersburg College of Veterinary Technology in 2008, and has been working in the veterinary industry since 2003. Ashley became inspired to work in the veterinary industry when a pet of hers underwent a foreign body surgery. Since then, she enjoys helping heal pets, connecting and educating clients, and advocating for animals.
Ashley grew up in Hemingway, South Carolina and currently resides outside of Myrtle Beach with her husband and daughter. In her free time, she enjoys caring for her three miniature dachshunds. She also enjoys reading, playing with her daughter, and a fun fact about Ashley is that she plays the bass guitar.
Joshua Cohoon is a Veterinary Technician at Palmetto Animal Hospital. He began working in the veterinary field in 2002 and has training in the care of exotic and zoo animals. He says his passion for animals and compassion to care for them inspired him to begin working in the veterinary field.
Joshua grew up in a small town of Wallace, South Carolina, and currently resides in Florence with his two children, Landon and Lillie. Joshua currently has two dogs, Phoebee, a golden doodle, and Annie, a standard poodle. In his spare time, Joshua enjoys spending time with family and friends, and traveling to new places. A fun fact about Joshua is that he enjoys acting in plays and productions.
Connor Raines serves as a Veterinary Technician at Palmetto Animal Hospital. Her areas of professional interest include emergency services, and she began working in the veterinary field in 2013. Connor attended Francis Marian University and says she was inspired to work in the veterinary field because she always wanted to enter a career that combined medical knowledge with her love for animals. She also loves helping patients who can't help themselves, and building relationships with owners and their pets.
Connor grew up in both Darlington and the Florence, South Carolina area, and currently resides in Darlington with her son and two dogs, Sastia and Kilo. When Connor isn't providing exceptional veterinary care, she enjoys cooking, spending time with her son, and petsitting.

Halley is a Certified Veterinary Assistant at Palmetto Animal Hospital. She graduated from the Animal Behavior College with her CVA certification and interned at Palmetto Animal Hospital. She has been working in the veterinary field since 2017, and her areas of professional interest include reproductive services and ultrasound. She loves working in the veterinary industry for the feeling of being able to help and care for animals that cannot do so themselves.
Halley grew up on a farm in Timmonsville, South Carolina and just recently bought a home in Florence. When she is not caring for animals, you can find her hanging out with her husband, three German Shepherds, Lincoln, Magnolia, and Abel, and one German Shepherd Husky mix, Jaxon. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, cooking, going to the lake, and upcycling furniture.
Darlene is Palmetto Animal Hospital's Kennel Attendant, and has been working in the veterinary field since 2012. She is passionate about training and behavioral study, and obtained her certificates in x-rays, pharmacy, and OSHA.
As a kennel attendant, Darlene is experienced in administering medicine and shots, as well as watching for any abnormalities once a pet is boarded. Darlene says the best part of working in the veterinary field is getting to know the dogs and cats that she works with!
Briana Lambert is a Receptionist at Palmetto Animal Hospital. She graduated from Francis Marion University with a bachelors degree in healthcare administration and is now enrolled in a Veterinary Assisiant program through Veterinary Practice Partners. She loves seeing how pets bring people together and her favorite part of working in the veterinary field is getting to see the exotic pets and puppies that come through Palmetto's doors.
Briana currently lives in Florence, SC with her son, Jalen, cat, Pooch, Pitbull, Bruna, and canine mix, Teddy. In her spare time she enjoys cooking new dishes and organizing anything she can get her hands on!
